Parkview Baptist Church in El Dorado, Arkansas is prayerfully seeking a full-time or bi-vocational Pastor to serve as the primary spiritual leader of our congregation. With an average Sunday attendance of approximately 75 and Wednesday nights with approximately 65, we are a Christ-centered church committed to faithful biblical preaching, heartfelt worship, intentional discipleship, and gospel outreach.
Position Summary
The Pastor will lead Parkview Baptist Church by preaching and teaching God’s Word, shepherding the congregation, equipping believers for ministry, and guiding the church’s mission to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Pastor will work closely with the deacons and other ministry leaders to provide spiritual vision, care, and leadership for the church and its ministries.
Key Responsibilities
- Preaching & Worship Leadership
- Prepare and deliver biblically faithful, Christ-centered sermons for Sunday worship services.
- Lead worship services in cooperation with music/worship leaders, ensuring services are orderly, prayerful, and centered on Scripture.
- Administer the ordinances of the church, including baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
- Teaching & Discipleship
- Provide regular opportunities for Bible teaching (e.g., Sunday School support and/or midweek Bible study, as schedule permits).
- Encourage spiritual growth and discipleship across all ages.
- Identify, mentor, and develop servant leaders and teachers within the congregation.
- Pastoral Care
- Provide pastoral care through prayer, encouragement, visitation (hospital and home), and biblical counsel.
- Officiate weddings and funerals as needed.
- Care for members during seasons of crisis, illness, grief, and major life transitions.
- Church Leadership & Administration
- Serve as the primary spiritual leader of the church while working collaboratively with deacons and ministry leaders.
- Help set spiritual direction and ministry priorities aligned with the mission of the church.
- Support healthy communication and unity within the church body.
- Participate in and support church meetings and key church-wide events.
- Evangelism, Outreach & Community Presence
- Lead the congregation in fulfilling the Great Commission through evangelism and local outreach.
- Encourage and participate in community engagement, missions emphasis, and compassionate ministry.
- Represent the church with integrity and a strong Christian witness in El Dorado and the surrounding area.
Qualifications
- A clear testimony of personal salvation and evidence of ongoing spiritual maturity.
- A clear calling to pastoral ministry and a commitment to prayer and the authority of Scripture.
- Meets the biblical qualifications for an pastor as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:6–9.
- Ability to preach and teach the Bible faithfully and effectively.
- A shepherd’s heart demonstrated through pastoral care, humility, and love for people.
- Ability to lead collaboratively with deacons and other church leaders; strong communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to complete a background check (including child safety screening) as required.
- Formal theological training and/or ministry experience is preferred; however, proven character, calling, and competency in handling God’s Word are primary.
Work Arrangement & Time Expectations
This position may be filled as full-time or bi-vocational depending on the candidate’s availability and the church’s needs. The Pastor is expected to be present and prepared for Sunday worship, key pastoral care needs, and regularly scheduled ministry opportunities (including midweek teaching/discipleship as agreed upon). Specific office hours, weekly schedule, and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
Compensation
Compensation and benefits (if applicable) will be determined based on the church’s capacity, the position arrangement (full-time or bi-vocational), and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
