Student Minister

FBC Sterlington is a growing church just outside of Monroe, LA, in Northeast Louisiana. We have a growing ministry to students and are looking for someone to serve alongside of us to continue that growth. We currently have about 110 students in our ministry with a weekly average of around 80.  

Job purpose:

               The primary purpose of the Student Minister will be to assist FBC in effectively reaching students in grades 6-12 with the Gospel of Jesus. 

Expectations:

1. Committed to growing one’s personal faith in Jesus
2. Must be willing and able to lead others
3. Able to teach with energy and passion
4. Establish and maintain a presence within the community
5. Partner with and resource parents in the discipleship of their student(s)
6. Maintain a teachable spirit
7. Arrive to campus a minimum of 30 minutes before any event or regular program.
8. Must support the pastor and overall direction of the church

Key responsibilities:

1. Direct ministry for students in 6th grade through 12th grade.
2. Lead Student Ministry Team to plan and execute ministry together
3. Plan and execute an effective ministry plan for weekly programming
4. Current programming: Wednesday nights; Youth Camp; Disciple Now;

Events; etc. (all subject to change)

1. Recruit and train leaders to serve in Student ministry
2. Provide at least 2 opportunities for training and/or feedback from leaders. (Fall and Spring)

1. Maintain an active list of teachers and substitutes

 Be the contact for all leaders, in the event a substitute is needed.

1. Evaluate and implement curriculum, as needed.
2. Have environments ready to receive Students at least 20 minutes before start time.

Set measurable goals for this area of ministry

1. Student Connections (Small Groups/Service)
2. Baptisms
3. Attendance
4. Parental Involvement.

Work with the associate pastor to develop and implement an effective security plan for our student ministry.

Other Expectations:

1. Promote student ministry within the church and to the community.
2. Have a clear vision
3. Develop an effective communication strategy
4. Create engaging environments
