Youth Pastor

Purpose:

Centreville Baptist Church in Centreville, MS is seeking a Youth Pastor/ Associate Pastor; to serve primarily as Pastor to the youth (Grades 6-12); to plan and participate in Youth Ministries that reflect the core values and vision of Centreville Baptist Church; and to form and empower a team of volunteer leaders to minister to youth and families of Centreville MS. One unique feature of our community is that all of our current students attend the local private school, Centreville Academy. On campus student ministry can be coordinated with the school and is encouraged.

  • Be a competent teacher of the Bible and foundations of the Christian faith, and be willing to seek further education and skills as necessary and/or appropriate
  • Help our youth grow in their faith with God
  • Have the ability to connect with youth relationally and to foster healthy interpersonal relationships among the youth
  • Possess the ability to teach/model how Scripture informs our lives and how we live.
  • Work collaboratively with the Pastor, church staff, parents and volunteers, and with other leaders in the community
  • Exhibit effective organizational planning and timely follow-through
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to work well with church staff and volunteers.
  • Seminary/Bible School education a plus

    Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a healthy balance of personal spiritual formation, self-care, and ministry
  • Create and maintain a worshipful and safe environment for Christian discipleship and spiritual growth/education of the Youth of Centreville.
  • Lead weekly mid-week Youth Bible Study for Grades 7-12.
  • Provide leadership for, and participate in, youth group.
  • Facilitate/nurture leadership for Youth Adult Leadership team.
  • Collaborate with Lead Pastor in choosing curriculum for Sunday School, Mid-week Bible studies, and special events; and recruit and lead youth volunteers.
  • Develop a long-term discipleship plan and points of intersection that allow our youth to enter into worship and fellowship.
  • Participate in service, outreach and evangelism in the broader community of Southern Mississippi and beyond.
  • Occasionally prepare and preach Sunday morning sermons and/or adult Bible studies.
  • Engage parents in the spiritual formation of youth.
  • Assist in community outreach and visitation, as needed.
  • Collaborate and engage with Centreville Academy to reach unchurched or under-churched youth in the community.
  • Prepare and steward the youth ministry budget.
  • Serve as part of the Sunday morning worship team as needed
  • Provide a Year-end summary for the church's Annual Report

    Schedule:

    This position requires frequently working in the evening, and periodically on Saturdays. It will require working for the entirety of Sunday mornings. Once or twice per year, the youth pastor will be expected to attend camps or retreats that will require travel for 3 days to two weeks. The schedule is flexible and will be organized around ministry needs. If the student pastor is working toward a ministerial degree, scheduling allowances will be made to accommodate school schedule.



This position reports to the Senior Pastor. The Youth Pastor will meet regularly with the Senior Pastor. Yearly review with Senior Pastor.

Special Note: Candidate will be required to complete and pass a Background Check.

Job Type: Full-time or Part-time. Salary and benefits to be determined based on work schedule, qualifications, and experience.

Note: A nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath house on about an acre of land with a fenced yard is available for the youth pastor and his family (if applicable) to use. The house is about 3 blocks from the church.
